It's been a while since my last post, but there wasn't much to say. I just saw a post on FB about Molson Canadian's Red Leaf project. It seems they're combining our "virtual world" with reality, and I like it.
The internet has affected people in so many ways, that at first blush I thought this was another distraction. I see after reading their site it isn't. It's a way to get people involved through the web and a brilliant bit of advertising.
Take a moment to check it out! http://www.redleafproject.ca/en/Home.aspx
This is a mixed bag of articles related to alternative health care, meditations, dreams, aspirations and inspirational stories.

Frustrations lead to insight
I don't know who reads this blog, and it doesn't really matter, as it's an outlet for me. I haven't posted for quite a while, as we've been going through difficult times. I came home this evening after running errands and felt a great deal of frustration. Frustration that I couldn't just "bang" around my kitchen because everything was cluttered. Frustrated that it seemed all the prayers in the world weren't helping. Frustrated that my quiet little life was intruded upon by various circumstances beyond my control.
So, I took a moment to pray..outside, and low and behold I did receive an insightful answer. Jesus said, don't just love your friends, but your enemies too. Even your enemies love their friends so what's the benefit to that. Do something outside the box, and love your enemies.
It dawned on me at that moment. It doesn't matter how I do when everything is hunky dorey and running smoothly. It doesn't matter if I can come home and have a glass of wine, and cook up a really nice, relaxed meal. None of that matters. I took it to mean the analogy of "loving your enemies" to mean, "conduct yourself during hard times with integrity.
What matters is how a person handles periods of hardship, and heartache. It matters how you conduct yourself, and where your heart is. Who cares if the house is clean, and beautiful meals are made if all isn't right with someone who is close to you. With someone who is YOUR family, and reason for being.
None of anything much matters, until that person is healthy, strong and whole. Then, and only then can rejoicing abound. Right now, what matters is how we deal with the difficult times that have come our way.
May the road be wide, the path easier, and love abound overall.
Because in the end, that's all that counts.

Memories
I've recently been in contact with an old friend of mine, whose family was very close to me. It brought back memories of good times, but along with that, sadness. He shared some writings and stories through his blog, and with that, brought to surface the memory of the loss of my Dad in January, 2009. It's not something I really want to go over again, but would like to share his poem.
Happy days are here to be cast
Be it for today or from the past.
For we live life not only here and now
But also cherish memories with a vow
Not to forget beautiful moments in our life
To balance the foolish acts of our maind
And delegate them to others of their kind.
For we tend to remember pleasures derived
and fail to recall selfishness contrived.
